FILTHY FRIENDS: A Meeting of Brilliant Minds?

Corin Tucker, Peter Buck, Scott McCaughey, Kurt Bloch, Bill Rieflin, and Linda Pitmon are Filthy Friends. The names are indeed those names known from the likes of Sleater-Kinney, R.E.M, The Minus 5, King Crimson, and so on.

Filthy Friends have finally announced the release of their debut full-length studio release, ‘Invitation’, which will be released by Kill Rock Stars on August 25th. The first single, a song called “The Arrival,” has found its way to you and can be heard below.KRS_FilthyFriends_Invitation-LP-3 As the lead-off single, “The Arrival” shows heaps of promise, nicely riding a steady line between raw energy and refined songwriting. Its got a great loose flow, free of rigidity and Corinne Tucker’s delivery is omnipresent, commanding and rife with attitude. Things are looking pretty good.

You can go ahead and pre-order ‘Invitation’ now. Just click here for all available formats and related swag.

Filthy Friends is the product of like-minded individuals with nothing to prove getting together and making a heroic racket together that finds space for their many influences and interests. Lead singer Corin Tucker has left an indelible mark on the punk scene through her memberships in Sleater-Kinney and Heavens to Betsy. Guitarist Kurt Bloch has logged a lot of hours as the leader of The Fastbacks, as well as serving as a producer/mentor for up and coming Seattle rock groups. Drummer Bill Rieflin has a fine day job as one of the drummers in King Crimson. Bassist Scott McCaughey keeps plenty busy doing studio work and mining the power pop underground with his long-running band the Young Fresh Fellows. As for the other guitarist Peter Buck…if you’re unfamiliar with him, you haven’t been paying attention to the last 30 years of alternative/college/indie rock. (Stage whisper: He used to be in R.E.M.)
