NEW VIDEO: SWEET SPIRIT’s “The Power” – Big Glam Pop, Motherfucker

Check out this video that Sweet Spirit just released for, “The Power”; it was the lead single from their second full-length release, ‘St. Mojo’. Think, maybe, a no-holds-barred, pop/rock & roll anti-diva singing with equal parts heart/soul/balls/irreverence that meets up with the Flaming Lips for an exercise in some early fuzz boosted glam pop in a surrealistic dystopian DEVO-tees compound.

Austin, TX is always an obvious place to look for something regardless how far outta the proverbial box you might wanna go. Sweet Spirit is fronted by Sabrina Ellis, who’s been a standout personality in the Austin music scene, at the fronting post for Austin-based band’s like A Giant Dog and Bobby Jealousy. Where Sweet Spirit is concerned, the intention was to venture doing her own thing but as it took its shape, Sabrina and A Giant Dog co-founder Andrew Cashen started writing songs that became Sweet Spirit.

ICYDK, A Giant Dog is a great ‘garage’ rock & roll that’s already established a grand footing in the scene and an Austin staple. They caught the attention of Spoon’s Britt Daniel back in 2014. They began opening for Spoon and making moves that was making good noise, so their reputation just kept building as they caught focus from national media outlets and finally released their full-length debut, ‘Cokomo’, in 2015.
